PLANT OPERATOR

Solomon Islands Ports Authority invites application from suitable individuals with the relevant experience and skills to fill the position of Plant Operator. The Plant Operator is responsible for multi-skill operation of construction plant, equipment and trucks and to provide efficient and timely engineering support to the key operations and work programs of SIPA.

 

Roles / Responsibilities

 

As a Plant Operator, you will have responsibility for (but not limited) to the following:

  • Operate a range of construction plant and dump trucks for the execution of civil and infrastructure works of the company.
  • Ensure plant and equipment remain operational by conducting required procedures for corrective and preventive maintenance including daily start-up and shut-down checks.
  • Report any breakdowns to Supervisor who will coordinate with the Mechanical Workshop for repairs.
  • Ensure that all plant, equipment and trucks are used for the sole purpose of the construction of civil and infrastructure works of the company.
  • Provide support to the Operation Department and other Departments of the company when requested.

Experience & Essential Requirements

  • Multiskilled operator and driver experienced operating/drive construction plant including but not limited to Excavators, Backhoes, Loaders, Rollers, Graders, Bulldozers, and Dump Trucks.
  • More than 5 years operating construction plant on civil works projects
  • Experience operating heavy-duty work crane is essential.
  • Some Experience on wharf and port construction, including pile driving is an advantage with current driver/operator license.
  • Flexibility to work in different places of employment including Honiara, Noro, Bina Harbour and any other designated project sites.
