ISIA signs MoU with Solomon Ports

Friday 8 August, Honiara – The Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) has partnered with the Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) to collaborate in areas that will support the institute’s activities and events with the aim to elevate and strengthen the accounting profession in Solomon Islands.
This partnership was cemented following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SIPA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr George Rausi and the Chief Executive Officer of ISIA, Ms Pamela Naesol Alamu on Friday 8 August 2025 at the SIPA Headquarters in Honiara.
The parties enter this Memorandum on the understanding that through it, SIPA will provide a cost-effective venue and facilities for ISIA to host certain events including its trainings and its membership events on a cost-sharing basis.
Mr Rausi, SIPA CEO, said the Memorandum demonstrates SIPA’s continued commitment to strengthening the accounting profession in Solomon Islands and to its wider corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“This MoU deepens the relationship between the two organisations through supporting the development activities ISIA intends to host for its members, which will provide more opportunities for accountants and upcoming leaders in the financial sector in the country,” he said.
Ms Alamu, ISIA CEO, said she was delighted to enter the formal relationship with the SIPA.
“SIPA and ISIA are well aligned in our commitment to build and strengthen local capability and capacity in the country to ensure that our people continue to grow and develop, and this MoU provides us with a pathway and opportunities for accountants and training participants to access much needed trainings at lower costs, which in turn benefits employers, accountants and members of ISIA,” she said.
Adequate space and well-equipped facilities are essential for successful training and membership events.
“By availing space and their facilities, SIPA is supporting the enhancement of learning experiences for accountants, our members, and people who attend our trainings; fosters engagement, and contributes to a positive image for both organisations. Specifically, proper space and facilities facilitate focused learning, efficient logistics, and a comfortable, welcoming environment and we acknowledge SIPA for their continuous support,” the ISIA CEO added.
ISIA is a statutory body established under the Accountants Act 2010 with the mandate, among others, to regulate the accounting profession in Solomon Islands.
