Solomon Ports Unveils Official 70th Anniversary Logo

Solomon Ports is pleased to announce the official unveiling of its 70th Anniversary Logo, marking 70 years of service as the nation’s sole ports authority.

The unveiling ceremony was held today at the Solomon Ports Head Office, where the logo designer, Mr. Jared Devesi, formally presented the winning design to the Chairman of the Staff Engagement Committee, Mr. George Fiuramo.

The logo was selected following a design competition conducted over the past two weeks by the Staff Engagement Committee, which is responsible for coordinating Solomon Ports’ 70th Anniversary celebrations this year.

The competition attracted more than 30 submissions, all of which underwent a thorough screening process before the winning design was selected. The logo features a bold typographic design forming the number “70”, styled to reflect the Solomon Islands national flag, symbolising Solomon Ports’ role as the country’s sole ports authority for seven decades. Incorporated into the design is a silhouette of the recently constructed Millennium Terminal, seamlessly fused with the bow of a modern freighter and overlaid with traditional Solomon Islands motifs. This combination reflects the organisation’s strong local identity while highlighting its role in driving national development.

The outer circular form resembles a compass, portraying Solomon Ports as the economic lifeline of the country and symbolising direction, progress, and connectivity. The use of silver represents the milestone of 70 years, recognised as a platinum anniversary.

The wave elements at the base of the design slope from left to right, illustrating the port’s evolution from a simpl e colonial-era wharf to the modern port authority it is today. Speaking during the unveiling, Staff Engagement Committee Chairman Mr. George Fiuramo thanked Mr. Devesi for his dedication and effort in producing the winning design.

He said the final submission clearly demonstrated thorough research and creative insight into the history and future of Solomon Ports. “The design truly captures the essence of what we were looking for — a logo that reflects the history, significance, and future of Solomon Ports and its service to the people of this country,” Mr. Fiuramo said.

In response, Mr. Devesi expressed his gratitude to the committee for recognising his work, noting that he spent considerable time researching Solomon Ports before developing the design. He also shared that this was his first time winning such an award, despite having worked in graphic design for several years.

The 70th Anniversary Logo will be featured throughout the year on official merchandise, email signatures, publications, vehicle decals, and prominently during the anniversary celebrations on 4 June 2026.

Solomon Ports also extends its sincere appreciation to all artists and designers who participated in the logo competition and thanks them for their time, creativity, and contributions.
