SOLOMON PORTS SHARES CHRISTMAS SPIRIT WITH COMMUNITY

Solomon Ports staff took time off work this week to share the festive season and Christmas fever spirit with children at the Children’s ward at the National Referral Hospital and special needs students at San Isidro care center at Aruligho , North West Guadalcanal.

This was the ports’ continuous initiative over the past three years tin visiting the children’s ward and members of the community to share the spirit of Christmas.

On Tuesday Solomon Ports Staff first visited the Children’s ward at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara, and gave Christmas gifts to all the kids who are patients at the ward, which were 40 in total.

Staff took time to meet with the kids and their parents and met with doctors and nurses who are also tirelessly working around the clock to make sure the kids recover and back to their good health.

The gifts were separated into different packages for both boys and girls.

On Wednesday (Yesterday), Ports staff travelled all the way down to the western side of Guadalcanal, to the San Isidro care center at Aruligho to meet with the special needs students at the school to also present Christmas gifts.

 Each ports staff presented gifts to each of the students, and sang songs, then meeting the students and staff as well.

Staff took time to tour the school compound, meet with students and staff to get to know about their experiences in the school and about their plans for Christmas.

Speaking about the Port’s initiative in engaging with the community and sharing the spirit of Christmas, SIPA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Eranda Kotelawala said this was the season of sharing, and SIPA is glad in sharing with the community the spirit of Christmas.

“On behalf of my team, I want to thank the NRH for allowing us to come once again this year to visit the kids and share the spirit of Christmas,” he said.

“We understand the kids and their parents are in difficult times as they are in the hospital right now, but we wish the children speedy recovery as we head into Christmas, and we want to wish all of them a happy Merry Christmas.”

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the children’s ward, Dr. Baddley Ludawane thanked SIPA staff for giving their time in visiting the children at the ward.

 “It is a blessing for these children and for us to witness such visit, it gives us joy to see such corporation thinking about children in the hospital, “he said.

Also down at San Isidro, Principal of San Isidro Care Centre, Sr Maria Fe Rollo thanked the ports staff for travelling all the way down to the school to visit the students.

“Solomon Ports have always been supporting us over the past years and we want to thank them for thinking about us this Christmas and coming down and sharing gifts and the spirit of Christmas with the students here.”

 As part of giving back to the community, Solomon Ports will also host the ‘Christmas Eve Show’ next week at the Unity Square on Saturday 24th.
